In January 2022, Developing and Using Critical Comprehension (D.U.CC.) was created by a team of undergraduate students from American University's Terrorism, Extremism, and Education class. They participated in and won the Spring 2022 Invent2Prevent Competition, funded by EdVenture Partners, The McCain Institute, and The U.S. Department of Homeland Security. After placing first in the competition, D.U.C.C. partnered with The Polarization & Extremism Research Innovation Lab (PERIL) at American University as well as the McCain Institute's sustainability program to continue the project.
